JUST A LITTLE ABOUT US

RICK WAKE
 
I was saved and baptized just before my 10th birthday at the First Baptist Church of Cabool, Mo. After high school I served 6 years in the air force, and then attended Missouri State University where I received my Bachelor's degree. Over the years I have served the Lord in a variety of capacities in different churches.  I served as the Director of the Keystone Heights Campus of Faith Bible Institute at Gadara Baptist Church. Then God called me to follow Him in a new direction, as a missionary for Him.  God has blessed me over the years in many ways and I am so grateful for everything He has done for me.  Serving Him is a pleasure beyond compare.

We met  at Golden Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri when we were in high school.  After dating for 2 1/2 years we were married there by Rev. Glynn Ensor in 1969.  In the years we have been married God has blessed us with 2 children , David and Theresa,  and we also have 5 beautiful granddaughters.  David has 2 girls: Beth and Amanda.  Theresa has 3 girls: Brittany, Kayla, and Samantha.  Our family is very supportive of our call to the mission field, and they are praying for us and helping us answer God's call.                           

After serving in our church for several years, we felt that God wanted us to do more for Him.  We felt the Holy Spirit leading us to step out as missionaries.  After much prayer we knew God wanted us in Central America.  We were able to come to Costa Rica to attend the Spanish Language Institute.  Since we have been here and after much prayer, we knew God wanted us here.  There is a great need for discipleship training and Biblical teaching in Costa Rica.  God has provided the resources for us to start a Bible Institute for Pastors.  In addition, God has shown us that His vision is much greater than ours.  We are looking at some property that would not only give us the opportunity for the Bible Institute, but we would be able to start a church there where there is a great need.  Since it is in the mountains and rain forest of southern Costa Rica, we would be able to also set up a retreat area for groups to come and worship God while enjoying the beauty of His creation.  This is a greater undertaking than we ever imagined, but we know that if this is God's will, he will make it happen.

We believe Christ is returning soon and the time is drawing short for us, as Christians to spread the Gospel to all nations and teach them all that He has commanded us.  We ask for your prayers as we undertake this work in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.

MARY WAKE


I was saved and baptized when I was 14 years old at Golden Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo.  Serving the Lord over the years has been the greatest enjoyment of my life.  I've served primarily as a teacher and in the choir.  I love to sing praises to the Lord and music reaches people in a special way.  I am so blessed that God wants to use me now in other ways.  I pray that I will serve Him completely as He uses me.  I know I can never repay Him for the great gift of salvation He has given me, but I just want to devote my life to serving him.
